Buying Ceiling Lighting Fixture Guide

There are many things to consider when buying ceiling lights fixtures. This article will help you make an inform buying decision, as well as help make the process of buying light fixtures fun and exciting.

Are you thinking of buying ceiling light fixtures for you home but are not sure how to make the best decision?
Here is a quick guide to buying new ceiling lighting fixtures:

The first thing you will need is to take a notepad and write down the types of ceiling lights you have and want to replace or add. Make a note of as much information as possible – Everything from the make, size and serial if possible.
Next decide where you want to place the fixtures and take into consideration the height of the room. You don’t want people to bump their head on your low chandelier. You should also keep in mind that you will be changing the light bulbs regularly so you don’t want it to be to high and hard to reach.

Another important point to keep in mind is that you may want to use ‘dimmer switches’ on these ceiling lights so that you can easily adjust the intensity of the light depending on your preference.
Let’s now find out more about the different types of lighting fixtures

Mounted Light:
These kind of light fixtures are perfect for a low ceiling. They are usually very close to the ceiling wall and can be directly attached (flush mounted) or can hang a bit more from the ceiling wall (semi-flush mounted). These two types of mounts allow for good flexibility depending on the height of your wall and design preference. For example the flush mounted is not easily seen, and can give your ceiling light a slick look, while a semi flushed mount can bring the ceiling light lower to make it more convenient to change your light bulb.

Suspended Ceiling Light Fixtures
Just as the name implies, these kinds of fixtures hang down from the ceiling. They are fixtures for Pendant Lights and Chandeliers and can be very fancy, bringing in a certain decorative style to your room. These light fixtures go very well with a ceiling fan fixture to bring out that fancy look you desire. The suspended ceiling light fixtures come in different colours and styles, so take a close look at the room you will be placing them in and see what may fit best. Remember to jot it down in your ideas.

Track Lighting Fixtures
Track Lighting fixtures are the best in modern lighting. They are designed to shine on a particular spot and are very practical because you can position them to shine in any direction, allowing you great flexibility with your decoration style. Some track lighting fixtures can slide along the metal bed that holds them together, giving you even more flexibility. They are very modern, fashionable and not expensive. They do not offer so much variety in colour, but you can get a good variety of styles.
